Deputy Managing Director of the Instituto Internacional San Telmo and Professor specializing in trends and business models in the retail and food service sectors, as well as in other businesses throughout the food value chain.

He headed the Agrifood Companies Department from 1992 to 2000 and currently serves on its Advisory Boards for Iberia, Italy, the Americas, and Africa, which bring together senior representatives from the leading companies across the food value chain.

His previous professional experience was primarily in consulting, where he served as Project Director for initiatives related to the supply chain of fast-moving consumer goods and the retail distribution sector.

He has been a Visiting Professor at IESE in Spain, IPADE in Mexico, AESE in Portugal, IDE in Ecuador, and PAD in Peru.

He is the author of numerous articles and conference papers addressing the current situation and future outlook of the food value chain, including agricultural production, food processing, retail distribution, and food service. He has also authored business cases including:

He has served on several national and European public-sector advisory bodies. He is a regular speaker at food industry events and advises companies operating in prepared foods, Asian food, retail, food service, foodtech, olive oil-based ingredients, fresh and processed seafood, processed meat products, restaurants, vegetable production and distribution in Morocco, fruit production and distribution, financial advisory services, confectionery and chocolate, agrifood and environmental analysis, and the global production and distribution of vegetables and pulses.

His current areas of interest within the food value chain include changes in its structure and operation at both national and international levels, the evolution of business models across retail and food service channels, and the vertical and horizontal alliances developing throughout the value chain.

Since 2014, he has served as a member of the jury for the Carrefour Innovation Awards, recognizing suppliers across twelve product categories. In 2026, he was ranked number 25 in the TOP 100 FSR selection of the most influential professionals in Spain’s food industry.
